“In keeping with our vision and our mission, Rebuilding Together of Queen Anne’s County, Inc. exists and functions to ensure elderly, disabled and low-income Queen Anne’s County residents (including veterans) live in safe and healthy homes. In the process, we will help to revitalize communities and contribute to the rebuilding of lives,” said Larisa Thomas, President. “While Queen Anne’s County is among the wealthiest in Maryland, there are many low income home owners who cannot adequately take care of their homes, meaning there is much for us to do.”

The Qlarant grant of $3,500 supports The Safe and Healthy Homes program, which provides home modifications and repairs enabling eligible homeowners to remain in their homes—enhancing the quality of their lives.

“Nothing is worse than a leaky roof, needing a ramp, or obsolete electrical wiring necessitating extensive repairs,” said Thomas. “Through mostly volunteers, RTQAC provides home modifications and repairs enabling eligible homeowners to remain in their homes and enhancing the quality of their lives.”

Funding received from Qlarant will be used to purchase building materials, pay for professional services (electricians, plumbers, and other needed licensed tradesmen), and a portion of the salary paid to a part-time project manager who will coordinate each of the improvement sites.

We have sustained our services through various grants from State and County governments, our national affiliate, foundations, and donations from the residents in Queen Anne’s County. Our Board of Directors is focused and extremely committed to continue to increase the number of volunteers who provide the home improvements, as well as the number of families we reach.”

“The Qlarant Foundation is happy to include Rebuilding Together of Queen Anne’s County among our family of grant recipients,” said Amanda Neal, Qlarant Foundation Board Chair. “We are excited to see how they can improve the lives of their clients with our assistance.”
