Doctors Community Hospital (DCH) was founded in 1975. It is a private, not-for-profit facility located in Lanham and is a modern 207-licensed bed institution with services ranging from advanced diagnostic imaging and cardiology, to state-of-the-art robotic surgery. In addition to a medical staff of more than 500 physicians, DCH is supported by more than 400 volunteers who contribute about 20,000 hours annually. Established in 1991, Doctors Community Hospital Foundation, Inc., is a Type I Section 509 (a)(3) non-profit supporting organization to DCH. It raises funds and promotes philanthropic partnerships in support of the Hospital’s clinical and community programs.

DCH received a grant of $25,000 to support the “On the Road Diabetes Self-Management Program.” The funds will be used to continue support for the Latino outreach initiative launched in early 2015, to support expansion into new high-risk areas, and to support a critical evaluation component needed to assess the success of the program during the last two years. DCH will continue to focus on key areas in 2015 and 2016 that will strengthen the entire program, specifically continuing the culturally-based patient outreach, education, navigation and follow-up services that are essential for the most at-risk areas in Prince George’s County.
