Dragonfly Heart Camp was incorporated December 31, 2007, with a mission to provide programs to help promote courage, independence and happiness for all transplant and pulmonary hypertension youth and their families. A grant of $30,000 supports a Youth Transition Retreat Weekend for approximately 50 adolescents semi-annually. The camp will focus on encouraging teenage and young adult participants to accept opportunities to try new things that promote internal growth and to assume responsibility for their healthcare, and medication compliance. The retreat provides a safe haven of support for teens and young adults who share similar experiences and struggles. The retreat will expand the support system to a peer group of understanding young adults who speak the same ā€œlanguage.ā€ Dragonfly Heart Camp is the recipient of the Goldgeier Award.
